The top is connected to an elaborately designed unit, dressed in polki using the traditional jadai technique, from which are suspended five gem-set and pearl-cluster strands, with the center strand featuring a beautiful kundan-set fish pendant. Each strand holds fringes of seed pearls and gold and green enameled beads.
The fish, according to Hindu mythology, is the first avatar of Vishnu and the first creature to be born in the water. The motif is extensively used in ear ornaments and pendants. Read Less
